The Greeting – A Poetic Attribute to Assalamualiekum

In the dawn of time, when Adam stood,

In Heaven’s light, where angels would,

Allah spoke, and Adam knew,

The greeting pure, the words so true.

“Assalamualeikum,” he softly said,

And angelic voices around him spread,

“Wa Aleikum Assalam wa Rahmatullah,”

A blessing of safety and security,

mercy and grace, an increase in blessing.

This greeting of ours, so simple, so deep,

A treasure from Allah, for us to keep.

It’s more than words we casually share,

It’s a prayer, a promise, a bond of care.

Each time we meet, each time we part,

We greet of intent, from the heart,

A prayer for safety, a shield of love:

“May Allah protect, may He bless your way,”

In every moment, night and day.

This covenant of security, we now reflect,

A promise of kindness, honor, respect.

The mercy and grace of Allah, may it surround,

In every step, in every sound.

And with all goodness, may your life be filled,

With blessings abundant, as Allah has willed.

So when we say, “Assalamualeikum,” know,

It’s more than a greeting, more than a show.

It’s a heartfelt prayer, a bond so strong,

A concise, prayer, not too long.

Let’s make it meaningful, let’s make it true,

To understand, believe, and live it too.

For in this greeting, we find our place,

In Allah’s mercy, in His grace.
